 (born February 2, 1977),  Shakira  is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician, report producer, dancer, and philanthropist who emerged within the music scene of Colombia and Latin America within the early 1990s. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, Shakira revealed a lot of her abilities in school as a live performer, demonstrating her vocal capability with rock and roll, Latin and Middle Japanese influences along with her own unique twist on belly dancing. Shakira is a native Spanish speaker and in addition speaks fluent English and Portuguese

After commercial flops with native producers on her first two albums, and being little-known exterior Colombia, Shakira decided to produce her personal brand of music. In 1995 she released Pies Descalzos, which brought her great fame in Latin America and Spain, and her 1998 album ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? was a vital success. Since then she has gained many followers in semi-Hispanophone countries, and plenty of non-Spanish-talking nations, particularly the United States. In 2001, aided by the acute reputation of the music video for "At any time when, Wherever", she broke via into the English-speaking world with the release of Laundry Service, which bought over thirteen million copies worldwide.Four years later, Shakira released two album projects called Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2. Each strengthened her success, significantly with the perfect selling song of the 2000s, "Hips Do not Lie".

She has won two Grammy Awards seven Latin Grammy Awards twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards and has been Golden Globe-nominated She can be the best-selling Colombian artist of all time, and the second most profitable feminine Latin singer after Gloria Estefan, having bought over 60 million albums worldwide in line with Sony Music.
